You've refreshed your mind, you've refreshed your big-picture, and now it's time to refresh your focus for the second half of the year! (You're doing it! High fives!) Lexi's here to kick things off:

Ever get overwhelmed trying to focus on too many things at once? In 2020 and 2021, there has been curveball after curveball thrown our wayit's understandable to feel overloaded and pulled in many different directions.

Knowing what matters to you in the big picture, imagine what it would feel like to focus on just ONE thing thatif you completed it in the next six monthswould move you closer to your big picture vision.

We hear you—choosing just one thing to cultivate feels impossible! We want to do it all, or we feel like one thing is not enough. But, when you choose the one thing that's most important to you, your next steps will be clear and you'll actually do something about it. Since they're all pointed in the same direction, your every step forward over the next six months will add up to something meaningful.

The alternative? Focus on 10 things and don't do any of them well. End the year feeling defeated. You're not going to do that, though! By choosing just one most important thing, your focus will be clearer, and you’ll be amazed at how much more enjoyable making little-by-little progress becomes for the next few months.

Pull out your Mid-Year Refresh worksheet (or download it below!) and let's choose your one thing.

STEP THREE: Refresh your focus.

Cultivate family, as you consider where to spend the currency of your time and attention in this second half of 2020, let’s do a little math together. When you think about the need for racial justice and understanding, it’s easy to feel like your efforts won’t add up to much. A single sunflower seed, though, when it grows and blooms, produces 1,000 to 1,400 seeds! If even 100 of those seeds are planted, that makes 120,000 more seeds—and in just a few seasons, those numbers quickly multiply into the millions.

Our Tending Lists are like open garden space, ready for good things to be planned and planted. If you were to even have one conversation with a friend this month, or take one step forward towards racial justice and understanding, you might affect two people. Those two people might continue what you started, and affect two more people—and on and on.

What we put on our Tending Lists in the weeks ahead matters. It really does add up. Between all 100,000 or so of us cultivators, that could lead to some pretty substantial change in our world!

So, given your big-picture, what will you focus on in the second half of this year? Here are a few more things to consider if you're still stumped:
  • Choose just one person to encourage or develop a relationship with.
  • Celebrate your progress, big or small, from the last few months. Keep the momentum rolling on a goal you've made good progress on.
  • Review your yes and no list. What "yes" sticks out as a focus for the rest of this year?

You matter. Your small steps forward matter. We’re doing this right alongside you, and cheering you on!

What one thing did you write on your worksheet? We'd love to hear!
