Tired? Wanting to quit? This is for you.

Let's get real for a minute. How many of these things are normal for you?

Falling asleep in front of your laptop or the TV
Falling asleep with your phone in your hand
Angry outbursts over really small things
Getting to dinner and realizing you never ate lunch
Getting to dinner and realizing you never had to refill your water cup
Showing up to plans and feeling resentful you said yes in the first place
Having to schedule plans months in advance because your calendar is so full
Feeling overwhelmed by all there is to do but then vegging on the sofa all night instead of doing any of it
Constant eye-twitching

Most of us have experienced most of these things at one time or anotherwe all have seasons of overwhelm. But when any one of these things becomes normal to us? When they stop being a sign that something is wrong, and instead pass almost without notice? That's a sign that we're moving from an unhealthy season to an unhealthy state, and that correction is needed.

Before we can focus on living intentionally or achieving our goals, we have to make sure that our foundation is strong. They say you can't pour from an empty cup, and that goes for growing our dreams just as much as it does loving other people well:

Of course it's hard to think about the future if you don't feel like you can get through today!
Of course you'd feel resentful about adding more to your plate if you feel like you already can't handle what's on it!
Of course you're tired.
Of course you want to quit.

Before we move into setting 2022 goals, we want to offer a gentle opportunity to check in with yourself, and begin to make any course corrections needed. This has been a hard two years for so many of us, and there is no shame in realizing that you're not where you'd like to be.

There's also nothing magical about January 1you don't have to wait for a new year to love yourself well! Here are a few things you can try today:

Go to bed earlier than usual
Charge your phone in another room, or at least away from your bed
Say no to an invitation or request
Cut up a carrot, cucumber, bell pepper, or veggie of your choice and keep it in your refrigerator so it's easy to add to a meal
Leave earlier for an appointment or pick-up than you think you need to
Let it be silent when you'd otherwise turn to the radio, a podcast, or music
Pick an evening this week on your calendar to do absolutely nothing. Pick another evening to get through as many "life management" tasks as you can, so they're not constantly weighing on you.
Get outside. Literally, just go outside for a few minutes.
Move your body in a way that feels good to you
"Brain dump" - get all the thoughts, to dos, and worries swirling in your head out on paper

If any of these sound like fruitful habits for you to develop, your PowerSheets® can absolutely help with this. But for now, start small. Start with one thing and start today!

When you're in a place to look ahead with hope, we are so ready to meet you there. We designed the PowerSheets goal planner to be a place of respite and energy, not striving and overwhelm. It will help you do the right things, not all the things. It will help you say yes to what matters and no to everything else. It's okay to grow slowslow is usually the healthiest, most life-giving pace, anyway. Little by little will add up :)

If you'd like, make plans to join us for PowerSheets Prep Week, December 6-10, or at Cultivate Your Year LIVE on December 6th. We'll work through our PowerSheets together as a community with lots of grace, joy, and energyand absolutely no overwhelm invited.

P.S. Looking to gift yourself even more of a retreat? We've got you. Our Retreat Bundle is a really fun add-on to help with some of these self-care practices, including a phone away bag, a jollifying water tumbler, the loveliest-smelling candle, and more!
