How to Set Goals With Your PowerSheets: Part 1

How to Set Goals With Your PowerSheets: Part 1

You want to cultivate what matters in 2020, and use your time really well. But, have you ever set a goal in January and completely forgotten about it a few weeks later? Or realized your goal just sounds good on paper, but doesn't really matter to you?

There's a better way! Instead of rushing to set goals you're going to forget about on January 2, we’re going to do things differently.

Welcome to PowerSheets Prep Week! These next few days together will help you prepare for the new year. You'll first uncover what really matters to you, and then set PowerSheets goals that will help you live it out.

We’re starting now so that you’ll have everything you need when it comes time to dig in! Whether you’re jumping into the Prep Work today with us, have already gotten started, or know your PowerSheets will be waiting under the Christmas tree for you, everything you need will be right here on the Cultivate blog.

Over the next week, our team will be breaking down our proven goal-setting process to help you uncover goals that really matter to you. By the end of this five-part video series, you'll walk away with a clear vision for 2020. This isn't a one-sided conversation, though! We want to hear from YOU! Use the hashtags #PowerSheets and #PowerSheetsPrepWeek to share your progress throughout the week.

Here's a breakdown of what to expect and where we'll be:

  • Each day you'll get access to a new PowerSheets coaching video (plus our best goal setting tips!) at
  • Instagram Story shares from Team Cultivate all week long (these will be saved in our Highlights, too!)
  • An informal kick-off on Facebook and Instagram Live on Monday, December 9th at 2pm ET
  • A free live workshop on Tuesday, December 10th at 2 pm ET—How to Set Up Your PowerSheets
  • A Facebook Live with next steps on Friday, December 13th at 1 pm ET

For today, let's start here: have you ever had a friend ask how you are - and really want to know the answer? Instead of looking for a quick "busy, but good!" she's giving you the chance to slow down and take stock of your life, in all its rich and messy beauty.

Consider us that friend! So, how's your life going? Are you in need of a change? Have you been ignoring something hard, or is there something in your life you know could be better? Has it been awhile since you've felt like you were really living?

You're in the right place! Your first step for today: w
rite your name on page 5. Yes, that's it! Writing your name and today's date signals a turning point. Today is the day that everything changes—the day you've decided to do things differently. You are saying no to the fear of failing, comparison, and overnight results. You are embracing goals connected to your why, little by little progress, and celebrating every step of the way!

Ready to keep going? Grab your PowerSheets and watch part one of our How to Get Started On Your 2020 Goals video series as you work through pages 7-13 of your Prep Work.

Doesn't it feel great to know that you've taken the first step to uncovering your best goals yet? Your Part 1 Pages:
Write your name on page 5! Remember: goal setting that lastsgoal setting that gets results!is all about progress, not perfection. Make a mess, and make your mark! This year, and your PowerSheets, do not have to be perfect to be meaningful.
Add some stickers! Goal setting should be fun, so come on over to the colorful side! :) Plus, the physical action of placing stickers helps our brains notice and connect with the things we're writing, helping them to stick!
Brainstorm your 2020 goal ideas. This page is a place to collect allll of the ideas that have been swirling in your brain since you opened that bright yellow box. Give them a home and give yourself a clean slate for the pages ahead.
Kick comparison to the curb and own your own personal kind of magic on pages 8-9 as you confidently embrace what makes you, you! You are unique and your goals should be, too.
List the things that fire you up. And then take action on one of those things today!
