Goal Setting and the Enneagram

Goal Setting and the Enneagram

Feeling stuck on your goals? Having trouble following through? Maybe the problem is YOU!

Just kidding - sort of : ) As our team has dived into the Enneagram over the last few years (along with the rest of the world!), it's become more and more clear how much our personality types - our strengths, weaknesses, instincts, and motivations - can either spur us forward or hold us back from cultivating what matters.

Finding out our Enneagram types as a team was an aha moment for all of us. While our recent social posts on goal setting and the Enneagram were a bit tongue-in-cheek - we doubt anyone is planning to memorize a full book of the Bible this year! - they are also meant to be a gentle reminder that we all come to goal setting with our own unique strengths and challenges.

Beyond the basics of setting goals that are connected to a strong WHY and realistic for your season, one of the BEST ways to follow through with ease and make progress on your goals is to know yourself. When you're aware of what's most likely to trip you up and what's most likely to motivate you to take action, you can work with your natural inclinations instead of against them!

That's what the Enneagram has done for us, and what we can think it can do for you! If you've yet to find out your type (there are 9!), you can take a free test here or the official paid ($12) test here. Unlike other personality tests, experts also say that the best way to find our your true Enneagram type is to simply read each type description and see which one resonates with you most. The Enneagram Institute site has great information on each type here!

Find all of these individual type graphics in our Instagram highlights!

Totally new to the Enneagram? It's an ancient personality typing system that describes how people are wired from birth, both positively and negatively. The Road Back to You (a great intro to the Enneagram!) describes it this way: "By challenging us to bravely explore who we really are, the Enneagram helps us recognize and overcome self-defeating patterns of behavior and to become our most authentic selves."

No matter what your type, you CAN successfully set and achieve your goals - our beautiful and varied PowerSheets® community is proof of that!

We'd love to hear: Do you know your Enneagram type? How has knowing yourself helped you make progress on your goals?

P.S. Curious about our team? We're made up of two 1s (The Reformer), one 3 (The Achiever), one 5 (The Investigator), one 6 (The Loyalist), one 7 (The Enthusiast), and two 9s (The Peacemaker)! Any guesses as to who is who? : )
