Introducing the Creative Chics Community Manager, Melissa!

We’ve been longtime fans of Melissa Jones and her business, The Chief Encouragement Office. She’s been dedicated to serving creative entrepreneurs and small business owners, empowering women in their businesses so they can make an difference in their communities. For us, that philosophy is the backbone of how we use PowerSheets for business — to discover our gifts and passions so that they can be used for good.

We’re thrilled that Melissa is joining our community as a Community Manager for the Creative Chics group, a national community of like-minded entrepreneurs who are also using the PowerSheets! Join us in welcoming her in the comments, or by sending her a note to ask about how to be involved in the Creative Chics!

Always choose love over fear in life and business. Choosing love means not only being kind to yourself but setting boundaries so that others respect you. When we operate from fear or scarcity we allow others to walk all over us. When you choose love there is enough for everyone, you can never run out of love.

What’s your story in a few sentences?
Natural born leader who took the path less traveled to discover her purpose of encouraging & empowering female entrepreneurs. I am still learning and growing, but grateful for where life has taken me. I love living life fully!

Tell us about the Creative Chics and how they’re using PowerSheets and community
The Creative Chics, founded January 2015, is a national community of women small business owners that meet monthly. Meetups are limited to 10 women to allow them to truly connect and create relationships. We encourage each other through challenges, and hold each other accountable for business goals.

I don’t believe in recreating the wheel when there is already an excellent resource available that I believe in. The PowerSheets workbook is the perfect complement for our community in helping us set intentional goals and achieve them. Plus using the PowerSheets allows us to support a small business woman and her team.

Royal Blue

What fires you up about spring?
I’m a spring baby at heart and I love everything about spring and seeing flowers bloom for the first time. Tulips, lilacs, lily of the valley, cherry blossoms, dogwoods, the rebirth of nature, baby animals, and my birthday. LOL.

What did you learn from attending MTH?
Where do I start? Attending MTH was such a personal experience for me. I knew what I was getting into going (interpersonal growth), but I had no idea how much I would get out of it. And some of the AHA moments didn’t come until months later. I learned what was at the root of my fears (because Lara makes you dig deep into the well) and that I wasn’t the only person that had those fears. I also make conscious decisions to achieve the goals that I set at MTH so it was a huge catalyst for me personally and professionally. The icing on the cake were the friends I made. If you have ever attended there is not a huge amount of time for networking, but I cherish the friends I made at MTH.

What was your favorite part about MTH?
Just being there! I love visiting the South as a Midwesterner. I remember talking to a friend and said well I’m moving to Chapel Hill instead of Chicago. One of the moments I do remember is being the last one to pick up my phone on Tuesday because I didn’t miss it at all. That was a great feeling.

What is your favorite part of the PowerSheets?
The Relationship Tending and Cultivating Gratitude pages. Relationship tending because we get so busy we tend to take the ones we love for granted. However, healthy relationships are vital for growth and happiness. Cultivating Gratitude because it is one of my personal values that I live by. Gratitude changes your perspective on all situations and circumstances when you allow it to. When you choose to be grateful for the small things it strengthens relationships and encourages more positive things to happen.

Have you used any PowerSheets stickers lately? Which ones?
The gold stars and the I Love This flags. I may overuse the word love sense I’m passionate about a lot of things however I believe we should always choose love in life. The gold stars to highlight big wins.

What encouragement can you give to our PowerSheets/Making Things Happen community
Always choose love over fear in life and business. Choosing love means not only being kind to yourself but setting boundaries so that others respect you. What’s your word for 2016?

Anything else our community should know about you?
As a business coach I believe in setting you and your business up for success. That could be process improvements to improve your client experience, customer service, and you or your team’s productivity. Or it could be coaching you through how to handle difficult conversations with a colleague, vendor, or employee. Being a leader in business is not a title, it is how you help and serve others.
