Every year, we refresh the PowerSheets® goal-setting progress—sometimes, with just a few small tweaks, and others, with major changes. One of our company mottos is "make it better," and we hope you can feel this as you dig into your goal planner each year!
One of my favorite changes for 2022? The pages that come directly after you've set your goals. Let's walk through them today!
After you've set your good goals for the year ahead, we want to make it easy for you to remember where to focus. Your brain seeks out patterns, and when you set a new goal, it's going to rebel, preferring to stay in its comfort zone. Choosing a Word of the Year and making a vision board can provide boosts of energy when you need them to stay the course—they're tools to remind you of where you're headed and what matters most.
Next, we wanted to help you head off challenges that might derail your goal progress. Knowing what might stand in your way of achieving a goal empowers you to move past it! Pages 32 and 33 are powerful reminders that little-by-little progress adds up (and a little bit of intentional forethought can go a long way!).
The Goal Action Plan pages might look intimidating (what?! a two-page worksheet for each goal?), but this space is for YOU! Use these pages in a way that serves you best - there's no one right way to fill them out! A few of my favorite elements:
- Writing in a "why" for each goal: your why is what motivates you to keep going! Why does this goal matter to you? Why is it worth sacrificing for and working hard at?
- Visualizing what success looks like at the end of the year: if you don't know where you're going, it's hard to get there.
- Brainstorming how to have fun with each goal along the way: FUN is such an underutilized but important aspect of goal setting! If you want it done, make it fun :)
If you've used PowerSheets before, you may notice that the righthand page is more open-ended than it has been in the past. This was a request from the community, as each of you likes to plan your action steps differently! If you've liked a structure we've offered in the past, you can easily download and print out Wildcard formats to match. Or, simply use this space to jot down resources and ideas, brainstorm mini goals, or make a mind map of your plan!
As always, the goal-setting section includes your Yearly Overview, which is the perfect place to plot out all of the action steps for all of your goals in one place, making sure you're not planning too much at once and giving everything room to flourish!
Friends, we hope you LOVE these changes! We're honored to be able to listen and respond to your requests, and we hope these new additions make it even easier and more joyful to cultivate the things that really matter to you.
